We lambed our flock of Oxford Downs over Christmas and into the New Year, these lambs can now be seen out in the fields whilst out and about on our farm walks.  Over the past month we have been lambing our commercial flock of mules and Lleyn (pronounced “Klen”).  It has been a great time to come and stay in the lodges if you fancy lending a hand with the lambing or maybe just watching from the field-side as the new lambs are born.

We have also welcomed five new Hereford cows onto the farm.  They are a native breed and hope that we will have calves with these girls in the years to come.
The new hot-tubs at Swan Lodge and Barn Owl Cottage are proving very popular, it was great seeing them being used when surrounded by snow with steam bellowing out of the tub!

We are very busy spring cleaning and doing maintenance jobs, keeping our luxury pine lodges spic and span.  Teal Lodge and Lapwing Lodge have both recently had bathroom makeovers.

We are re-styling the entrance to Rural Roosts from the road, have been doing some tree planting and added a few fishing pegs at the reservoir. The new fishing charge for guests who wish to fish the reservoir during their stay will be introduced in the spring (the fishing on the lodge lake is still included in the price of your holiday).

We are now looking forward to the long-awaited arrival of spring; the daffodils are just beginning to appear, lambs are bouncing around the fields and the primroses are in bloom. We look forward to welcoming lots of guests, new and returning, to come and enjoy Rural Roosts for the season ahead.
