The Easter Holidays can be a wonderful time to start getting out and about with family and friends, enjoying the first signs of spring. The wildlife in the countryside is just starting to come alive again, with bird song, hares playing in the fields and geese starting to return to the nearby lakes and rivers.
Here at Rural Roosts, we are open all year, but we do particularly love this time of year when guests can get outside and make the most of the great outdoors! There are some fantastic farm walks right from your door, and for the more adventurous, you could walk in the nearby beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds or maybe take a trip down the cycle path – one way to the lovely village of Woodhall Spa (with lots of lovely little cafes for that much needed coffee and cake!), or the other way into the City of Lincoln.
There’s a packed programme of theatre, events, trails, and activities over Easter in Lincoln and Lincolnshire. Highlights include:
Eggcite! Arts Festival for Children March 31st – April 15th
Eggcite! is a children’s arts festival over the Easter holidays held across Lincoln venues, including arts & crafts, theatre, storytelling, music, and more. Venues include The Collection, New Theatre Royal, Lincoln Performing Arts Centre, Lincoln Drill Hall, Lincoln Cathedral, and the Terry O’Toole Theatre.
The Conqueror’s Castle March 31st – April 1st
Experience William the Conqueror’s triumphal return to Lincoln Castle 950 years after he commissioned its building in 1068. There will be a full supporting cast of soldiers, civilians and musicians, plus the chance to meet King William himself.
Easter Eggsploration April 1st – 2nd
Follow the Easter trail through the wild gardens of Doddington Hall with Jolly the Unicorn over the Easter weekend. You can look forward to croquet on the lawn, a new digital trail to follow, and exploring the Hall itself – opening for the first time in 2018.
Luminarium April 5th – 8th
An interactive sculpture, a dazzling maze of winding paths and soaring domes, on the campus of the University of Lincoln. You will be transported to another world of cavernous domes, tunnels and pods, covering half the size of a football pitch and creating a sense of wonder and enchantment for all ages.
Countryside Lincs April 8th
Visit the Lincolnshire Showground for a fun-packed extravaganza all about food, farming and the countryside during the Easter holidays. Children and families will be able to learn to make, bake, explore and experience all things connected to food, farming and the countryside.
