In an on-going effort to help the environment and to become more self-sufficient, Manor Farm has installed 220 new solar panels to generate electricity for the Rural Roosts lodges and the farm. As solar power only provides a  small fraction of the world’s energy supply we thought we’d do our bit to help.

Thoughtfully positioned, they cannot be seen from the Rural Roosts’ site but they are working hard behind the scenes to generate power from the sun.

Solar power generation has several advantages over other forms of electricity generation:

• Solar energy production does not require fossil fuels and is therefore less dependent on this limited and expensive natural resource.
• Solar power production generates electricity with a limited impact on the environment.
• Solar energy can effectively supplement electricity supply from an electricity transmission grid, such as when electricity demand peaks in the summer

Guests will notice no difference in their use of the lodges, but they can rest assured that they are staying on a site that is striving to become more and more environmentally friendly.
