Introducing The Nest – Settle in, slow down.

We are very pleased to introduce you to The Nest at Rural Roosts, opening very soon! If you have stayed with us recently you may have noticed our new addition to the lodge site, as well as the surrounding building work. We have been working behind the scenes to create this calm container to deepen your relaxation during your stay with us, and we are very excited to share more about this now we are moving towards the opening in the next month or so.

What is The Nest?

The Nest is a carefully curated, secluded space to unwind, restore, and embrace an hour of calm. Nestled within Rural Roosts, this private wellness area combines the soothing warmth of our Hekla sauna, the invigorating outdoor cold shower, and peaceful surroundings designed for relaxation.

How does it work?

Upon booking your holiday, guests will receive a link to book your experience at The Nest. This gives you the opportunity to book prior to or during your stay. Each slot will be 1 hour long, and the booking is for up to 6 guests. The Nest is walking distance from all of our pine lodges.

Your Experience

The sauna will be pre-heated and ready for your arrival.

During your 60-minute private session, you have exclusive use of:

  • Hekla Sauna with Harvia electric heater
  • Outdoor cold shower
  • Private summerhouse changing area
  • Outdoor seating and relaxation space

Relax, Refresh, Restore

Most guests enjoy alternating between:

  • 10–15 minutes in the sauna
  • A refreshing cool-down using the outdoor shower or fresh air
  • Time to relax in the summerhouse or outdoor seating area

Repeat as desired throughout your session!

The Benefits of using a Sauna

Not only is spending time in a sauna a truly relaxing experience, but is known to have a plethora of health benefits too. The deep relaxation offered by a session in the sauna can contribute to stress relief as well leading to better sleep quality. The heat of the environment is also thought to improve circulation, leading to muscle and joint recovery, alleviating aches and reducing inflammation. This improved circulation may also benefit heart health with regular use. The steam created by pouring water on the hot stones in a traditional sauna such as ours, creates a humid environment which opens pores for skin cleansing, as well as easing congestion and benefiting respiratory function. Through long-term observational studies, there is also some evidence to suggest that regular sauna use may reduce risk of age-related conditions like dementia, as well as cardiovascular events. A rarely mentioned benefit of sauna use is social connectivity. The Nest is a private, personal space for relaxation, and can certainly be used for some secluded alone time. However we feel this space also provides a quiet environment for connecting with loved ones too, away from the noise and distractions of everyday life, in a calm and relaxing, secluded space.

We are pleased to share more about our exciting new addition at Rural Roosts, and hope time in The Nest during your future holidays leaves you feeling relaxed, recharged and refreshed. We expect to officially open The Nest in the next month, keep an eye on our social media to follow along!
