We are certainly feeling a shift in the seasons here at Rural Roosts, as we welcome in crisp, bright mornings and dark, cosy evenings. It’s been a beautiful, long summer here in Stainfield, and at this time of year the farm is bustling with wildlife enjoying the last of the season’s warmth. Walking the fields at dusk, the Tawny Owl’s familiar call welcomes in the longer nights. There has been some wonderful sightings of kingfishers recently, perched up around the lakes keeping the fishermen company. We have also had an abundance of deer, foxes, badgers as well as a friendly toad all enjoying cooler days as we move into the autumn. There has been reports of some fantastic fishing from guests recently too, with a variety of tench, roach, bream, rudd and perch at the lodge lake, and many impressive carp catches at the reservoir.
We were very pleased to announce the opening of The Nest in September too, our new addition at Rural Roosts. We have been working on The Nest project for a little while now, carefully designing a space with ultimate relaxation in mind. The Nest is a space to unwind and slow down, enjoying the use of our traditional sauna, outdoor shower and peaceful garden area. We are very pleased to have welcomed many guests and external visitors to enjoy this space since opening, making use of our Welcome Offer – 50% off your first sauna session using code NEST50 (code expires at the end of October!).
On the farm, we have introduced a herd of sheep who will spend the autumn and winter months with us grazing on the fields surrounding the lodge site. We are also due to be welcoming a herd of Lincoln Red cattle to the top sheds to shelter during the colder months.
We can’t believe it’s that time already, as we look ahead towards the festive season. As we leave behind what has been a wonderful summer season, we are looking forward to dropping into a little more slowness this autumn. Crisp morning walks as the sun rises and golden leaves crunch underfoot, cosy evenings curled up with a good book in hand, or perhaps a trip to the sauna to warm through and unwind. If you’re looking to get something in the diary to really look forward to this autumn/ winter season, check our availability on our website.
