Meet the Boys!
Tupping time is with us once again and on the farm we have nine rather handsome specimens to service our ewes this season!
2 weeks ago we introduced our two “teaser tups” into a field of ewes (female sheep). “Teasers” are rams (also known as tups – male sheep) which have been vasectomised. They are used to bring on and synchronise the ewes cycles so that when they go to the fully functioning tup, all should become pregnant (in lamb) on the first mating, meaning pretty much all the lambs will be born in a 17 day window.
Our tups have been receiving some TLC, being pampered in the warm, cosy shed with plenty of food and drink in preparation for their busy time ahead!
