Summer in Lincolnshire

As we look ahead to warmer weather on its way, it brings the perfect opportunity to plan something to look forward to in the summer months. At Rural Roosts we are lucky to have an abundance of wonderful activities in the local area for all the family to enjoy, so whether you’re looking for an action packed trip, or a moment to relax, recharge and unwind, there is something for everyone here in Lincolnshire.

On the doorstep…

Stepping out of your cosy pine lodge, we have some lovely walks around the farm for all to enjoy. Perhaps a morning meander through the woodlands, or an afternoon stroll around the reservoir before pitching up by the water’s edge for a spot of fishing. We are loving these long summer evenings, maximising the time to be spent outside in nature, observing and appreciating the wonderful wildlife and warmth of the June sunshine. For the little ones, we have children’s woodland play area, featuring a zip wire, playhouse and bug hotel, for endless fun immersed in nature.

Cycling and Walking

You certainly don’t have to travel far to find some fantastic footpaths and cycling trails, which in our opinion, is the best way to explore the local area and take in all that Lincolnshire has to offer. Close by, we have the the Stainfield loop and Chamber’s Farm Woods, both lovely walks in nature, perfect for a relaxed afternoon stroll. Further afield, there is the Spa Trail, a flat, 3 mile trail between Woodhall Spa and Horncastle, through beautiful woodland and lush countryside. In the Lincolnshire Wolds, there are countless paths and trails to explore, and plenty of charming country pubs and cafes to keep you fuelled between rolling hill climbs.

Shopping and Dining

Just 20 minutes drive from the lodge site is the historic city of Lincoln, which makes a wonderful day trip during your stay. If you’re looking for a little retail therapy, the bustling high street offers a selection of shops and restaurants. As you venture up hill, you will come across the Bailgate and Lincoln’s iconic Cathedral Quarter. Cobbled streets lined with independent shops, cafes and restaurants, beautiful architecture and a lovely atmosphere.

Adventure and Play

If you are visiting with family this summer, there is so much to do during your holiday for everyone to enjoy. Why not venture in to Woodhall Spa and enjoy a swim in the outdoor swimming pool and Jubilee Park? We also have Rand Farm Park right on our doorstep as well as Lincoln Zoo, with an abundance of activities and events on throughout the year. Or for those looking for something a little more daring, Wild Pines Adventure Park offers high ropes, ziplines, archery and much more!

Or simply sit back and relax in your cosy lodge, equipped with everything you need for a quiet retreat away from the bustle of everyday life!
