The 2019 Lincoln Grand Prix and Sportive

The Lincoln Grand Prix Festival of Cycling is due to take place this weekend 11th – 12th May.  This is a great weekend of cycling in the historic City of Lincoln.  There are lots of events and activities to take part in or to watch.  

A week of exciting cycling events, including a Sportive and the Men’s and Women’s Lincoln Grand Prix.

The Lincoln Grand Prix celebrates its 64th year as elite women and men race across historic Lincoln. The exciting races are complemented by a Sportive the day before which follows some of the elite course.

The the steep hills of Lincoln’s cobbled Cathedral Quarter offer a popular, exciting and tough route for the riders and spectators.

Wednesday 8th May

  • Lincoln Bike Night, The Venue, Bishop Grosseteste University, 7:30pm
    A screening of Wonderful Losers: A Different World by Arunas Matelis – more than just a documentary about the Giro d’Italia.

Saturday 11th May

  • Lincoln Grand Prix Sportivefrom Yarborough Leisure Centre, from 8am
    Take on part of the elite race circuit, perfect for amateur cyclists who want to improve their skills and fitness. After a long ride in the tough hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds, tackle the closed road cobbled climb of Michaelgate before finishing in Castle Square at the bottom of the imposing Lincoln Cathedral. Choose from 33, 64, 80, or 100 mile courses to take part in this fully organised event with electronic timing, feed stations, medical support, and even photography.

Sunday 12th May

  • Lincoln Grand Prix, starting on Castle Hill
    The Lincoln Grand Prix is the race for elite male and female riders and is Britain’s oldest remaining classic one-day cycle race. Some of the UK’s top riders will take part in both races which start and finish on the historic Castle Hill
