We have recently scanned our flock of sheep to find out how many lambs to expect this year. As you can see, all being well we should be welcoming 252 new lambs to the farm soon. The reason for scanning is so we can split the sheep into groups according to the amount of lambs they are due to have, then feed and care for them appropriately. Also we colour mark them so when it comes to lambing we know how many lambs each ewe is expected to deliver.
My 4 Christmas gift Herdwick sheep have settled in well and although inevitably they stick together when out in the fields with the other sheep, they seem pretty relaxed here on our farm.
During your holiday, take a “Gator Ride” with Tim; tour the farm and get up close with the animals. Lambing will begin mid-March. Don’t just watch “Lambing Live” on the television – experience it for real – book your spring break self catering accommodation with us…so much more than somewhere peaceful to sleep!
