Farm holidays are usually associated with spring and summer, but Rural Roosts is a great place to come whatever the time of year or the weather. Our pine lodges are built in the Scandinavian style and are wonderfully warm and toasty inside in the winter.

Rural Roosts is a great base for walking (you can bring the dog too if you let us know when booking) and cycling (we even have bikes for hire!) both of which are very enjoyable pursuits on a cool, crisp day where you can see your breath in the air. Enjoy an exhilarating journey through the beautiful countryside with a flask of hot tea or coffee, or stop at one of the many traditional village pubs for a hearty meal and to warm yourself!

Last winter we had plenty of snow, which led to some incredibly beautiful landscapes both on the farm and in the surrounding countryside, fit to enchant any keen photographer or artist.  Our guests in Swan Lodge and Barn Owl cottage had the experience of enjoying the lovely warm water in the hot tubs while snow lay on the ground outside.

And if we have a lot of wet days, you can have a lovely time without going outside. Imagine being snug in your luxury lodge on a moody grey day, watching the rain fall on the lake, knowing you don’t have to wait at the bus stop or drag yourself to the shops in it, that you have nothing to do but relax in the warm with family and friends! We’re a great place to come to recharge your batteries during what can be the most trying time of the year!
