If you are looking for bargains or design classics, some of the best places to visit are antiques and vintage fairs.
There are lots of antiques fairs taking place across Lincolnshire throughout the year where you can find: antiques, collectables, furniture, vintage items, militaria, maps, shabby chic and much more.
Lincolnshire Showground, about 20 minutes from Rural Roosts holiday lodges, holds an antique fair twice a month which offers a diverse range of products and prices. It is a very established and well-organised fair, where visitors can browse both indoors and out. The marquee stalls offer furniture and finer collectables. On the outside pitches you will discover more rustic items and generally modestly priced goods. If the weather is chilly, you can even stay inside, where smaller decorative items are to be found.
Alternatively, the Castle Hill Antiques Fair has over 40 antique dealers from Lincoln, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands, and runs in one of Lincoln’s most historic areas – Castle Hill. At this fair you can see a wide range of products, including: antique furniture and silver, pottery and porcelain, Asian art, fine art, modern collectables, toys and vintage items. This fair is about 30 minutes from Rural Roosts holiday lodges.
Hemswell Antiques Centre is the largest antiques centre in Europe. It brings Europe’s largest selection of dealers together and offers a vast range of antique furniture and vintage collectables. This is a very popular antiques outlet and only a 20-30 minutes’ drive from the Rural Roosts lodges site.
Horncastle, 20-25 minutes from Rural Roosts, is also a great town for antique hunters. It is known as “The Antiques Capital of Lincolnshire”, due to the number of antiques outlets in the town. All these shops have their own unique styles and prices. Some of them specialise in antiques, others in time pieces, some focus on collectables and others offer a truly eclectic mix of products. Each one has lots to offer and is well worth spending your time in.
Swinderby is another great place to visit in search of antiques. It is approximately 30 minutes from Rural Roosts and holds an Antiques and Collectors Fair on Mondays. It takes place at RAF Swinderby, near Lincoln, with over 600 stalls full of antiques. You can find vintage fashions and jewellery to antique furniture and textiles.
